Statewide Roadmap Spurs Medical Education Expansion
With a ranking of 47 out of 50 states in terms of physicians per capita, the state of Georgia tapped Tripp Umbach to explore the most appropriate pathway for expansion of medical education in the state. The Tripp Umbach team evaluated national program models and analyzed current and developing partnerships to facilitate expansion efforts. The final product provided a cost-effective growth strategy, quantified the economic impact associated with this strategy and assessed the future return on investment to the state. With a new medical school opening in Athens and expansion of graduate medical education that has added more residencies throughout the state, Georgia’s roadmap has become a national model. To date, Tripp Umbach has completed nearly 90 percent of all medical school expansion planning in the United States – making our firm the leading partner in academic medical center planning.
