Impact Study Spawns Support for Bioscience Industry
In a state heavily dependent upon manufacturing and the auto industry, championing investment in bioscience as a driver for economic development takes more than vision. Tripp Umbach’s work gave organizations, businesses, research institutions and industry-focused leadership the quantifiable evidence needed to invest resources in Ohio’s bioscience industry. BioOhio and Tripp Umbach teamed up to quantify the overall economic and employment impact on Ohio and six regions. Raising awareness of the potential ROI led to millions of dollars of investment from the state and increased membership in BioOhio among companies, suppliers, consortiums and universities. Business Facilities Magazine’s recently ranked Ohio best in the Midwest and fourth in the nation for its bioscience industry. Meanwhile, public and private investment has contributed to more than 1,100 bioscience organizations operating in the state.
