Amplifying the Power of the Penn
As the single largest contributor to the state's economy -- generating more than more than $17 billion annually in overall economic impact – Penn State figures prominently into Pennsylvania’s ability to transform its lagging industrial and manufacturing base into an innovation economy. Tripp Umbach was retained to undertake a statewide economic development initiative to identify and deploy Penn State’s abundant assets, including its high profile presence and economic influence across the state, to grow and diversify the economy. The pioneering effort required building a geopolitical and geographic roadmap and establishing the necessary local and regional alliances to champion a change agenda. The statewide planning process tapped the expertise of community stakeholders, alumni and the public and private sectors to identify opportunities to align community and campus interests, maximize the development potential of various regions and foster growth.
