Need for Doctors Fuels Economic Growth
Faced with a chronic shortage of physicians that threatened its ability to grow and serve the needs of its community, Lancaster General Hospital reached out to Tripp Umbach to explore ways to recruit and retain physicians. The solution was to produce its own physicians, an effort that would require the successful community hospital and its staff to challenge the status quo, embrace change and become an academic medical center. From feasibility studies to business planning, program management and implementation, Tripp Umbach worked seamlessly alongside management to build a roadmap that addressed the concerns of stakeholders and served as a catalyst for change. Thanks to a new relationship with established medical school affiliates, Lancaster General’s 50 undergraduate medical students begin rotations in 2010.
