Interdisciplinary Model Aligns Provincial and Political
Expanding medical education is a complex undertaking in Ontario, Canada where university, community and Ministry of Health officials must find common ground. Tripp Umbach’s feasibility study, concept document and white paper captured the big picture perspective necessary to achieve buy-in for the change agenda. Tripp Umbach also undertook a comprehensive study to determine the best approach for expanding medical education, including a review of previous medical education and health science campus expansion efforts, analysis of successful governance and internal medical staff readiness, development of financial plans and budget projections, assessment of campus/facility planning and an economic impact study. The result is a one-of-a-kind pioneering initiative – an interdisciplinary teaching model where physicians, pharmacists and nurses train together.
