Here is a quick update on our GME related consulting:

With the help of our Senior Consultant Bob Dickler, the former Chief Clinical Officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges in charge of all issues related to GME, Tripp Umbach has completed new models that show the Return on Investment of new GME programs for hospitals in virtually every situation and every market.  Our models show the cost of new programs and the impact of CMS funding and other “induced” financial benefits to hospitals that establish new programs.  I am presenting this information “The Return on Investment of GME Programs” later this month at a GME conference in Georgia, sponsored by Medical College of Georgia.  I would be happy to share an electronic copy of the presentation with you – just email me and I will forward it to you on Friday, May 28th.

There was a recent article in Business Week that told the world what we’ve known for a long time.  Pittsburgh, the poster child for steel mill stagnation is now a model of rust belt renewal thanks to two pivotal industries -- health care and education.  Here’s a little of what the article says—including the part where they ask my opinion:

Twenty years ago when I started Tripp Umbach, the last thing on our radar screen was a Website.  But then again, we had two computers to share between the staff and we sent our memos and proposals via snail mail.  These days Websites are critical.  They are the portal to our corporate soul, open 24/7 and an essential communications vehicle.
