A joint community venture between Holy Spirit Health System, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and PinnacleHealth System (known as The Collaborative), was formed to identify the needs of those living within Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Lebanon, and the northern tier of York Counties. Tripp Umbach guided the health systems on a community-wide health needs assessment to meet IRS 990 reporting requirements. Information was collected through interviews with key community stakeholders, collection of data findings, focus groups with key community audiences, and open community forums. Community input was used in concert with current public health data at the neighborhood, county, state, and national levels to provide a more in-depth understanding of population trends and health care needs in the communities served by the health systems. To date, The Collaborative and its members are still active in addressing and identifying the health care needs of those in their community.
