The Lake Charles Memorial Health System CHNA was spread among five Louisiana parishes and 23 ZIP codes. The CHNA included input from representatives of the broad interests of the community served by the hospital, including those with special knowledge of public health issues; data related to underserved, hard-to-reach, vulnerable populations; and representatives of vulnerable populations served by each hospital. Tripp Umbach collaborated with working group members to oversee and accomplish the assessment and its goals. This report fulfills the requirements of the Internal Revenue Code 501(r)(3), established within the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Primary and secondary data analyzed supplied the working group with sufficient data and resources to identify key health needs. Local, regional, and statewide partners understand the CHNA is an important assessment toward future strategies that will improve the health and well-being of residents.
Lake Charles Memorial Health System will be able to use the findings of the assessment to assist the community’s underserved and marginalized residents. The region’s resources and the ability to track progress related to the implementation strategies will be managed by the health system to meet the region’s need.
