Measuring a Decade of Growth, Innovation, and Community Impact
The Challenge
As Texas Christian University continued to grow its academic, research, and community footprint, leadership sought a comprehensive evaluation of the institution’s expanding influence across Fort Worth and beyond. The goal was to quantify TCU’s economic and social impact from FY14 through FY23, with forward-looking projections to FY34—capturing its evolving role as a national leader in education, workforce development, and civic engagement.
How We Helped
Tripp Umbach conducted a longitudinal economic impact study that measured TCU’s direct and indirect contributions to employment, research activity, student and visitor spending, and public investment. The analysis also evaluated TCU’s broader community benefits, from the establishment of the Burnett School of Medicine to the university’s growing impact in athletics, innovation, and cultural development.
The findings confirm that TCU continues to be a cornerstone of Fort Worth’s economy and identity. Its expanding academic and research enterprise supports job creation, drives medical and workforce innovation, and enhances the region’s cultural and civic vitality. With continued investment and strong partnerships, TCU is positioned to shape the next generation of economic growth and educational excellence across Texas and the nation.
