UNLV NCI-Designated Cancer Center

Bringing World-Class Cancer Care Home to Nevada

Cancer patient and physician

The Challenge

The Las Vegas region has long struggled to provide comprehensive cancer services for its growing population. This has resulted in a large outflow of patients, primarily to California, to receive care not available in Southern Nevada. An NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center solves this problem by bringing research-based advanced clinical treatment options to the 2-million-person region.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach partnered with The Lincy Institute and UNLV to conduct a rigorous feasibility and economic impact study assessing the need and viability of establishing an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Las Vegas. Through data-driven analysis, they evaluated economic, clinical, and community benefits, providing Nevada leaders with clear insights to guide strategic planning and investment. The report helped equip policymakers, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders with the evidence needed to advance a transformative cancer care resource for the state.

The Impact

The study found that a new NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Las Vegas would generate more than $540 million in annual economic impact and support over 2,500 jobs once fully developed. Beyond its economic contributions, the center would expand access to advanced cancer research, clinical trials, and multidisciplinary care, allowing patients to receive world-class treatment closer to home. By employing more than 1,000 highly skilled professionals, the center would strengthen Nevada’s healthcare workforce, reduce patient outmigration, and improve outcomes for patients and families across the region.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
