The Challenge

Beebe Healthcare, located in Sussex County, Delaware, has a long-standing tradition of advancing healthcare education through its Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing and, more recently, the R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education. With a new Family Medicine Residency launched in 2023 and growing community health initiatives, Beebe recognized the need to evaluate its capacity for broader graduate medical education (GME) expansion to address regional physician shortages.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach developed a comprehensive business plan assessing Beebe Healthcare’s readiness to expand high-quality residency training programs. The evaluation analyzed clinical teaching capacity, community health needs, financial feasibility, and long-term return on investment. The resulting report provided clear recommendations for program size, resource allocation, and measurable community benefit.

The Impact

Beebe Healthcare’s GME expansion represents a strategic step toward alleviating healthcare access challenges in Sussex County and strengthening Delaware’s physician workforce. By advancing its residency programs, Beebe is positioning itself as both a leader in medical education and a driver of community health improvement—ensuring more patients receive care from physicians trained to meet the unique needs of the region.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
