Kansas State University Athletics

Elevating Athletics, Community, and Economic Growth Across Kansas

The Challenge

With a proud tradition of excellence in NCAA Division I competition, Kansas State University (K-State) Athletics supports more than 430 student-athletes across multiple sports. Beyond athletics, K-State sought to quantify the broader economic and social value its programs bring to the university, the Manhattan community, and the state of Kansas.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach partnered with K-State Athletics to conduct an independent economic impact study assessing the financial and community contributions of its programs during Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23). The analysis evaluated operational activities, capital investments, visitor and fan spending, and student-athlete expenditures to capture the full scope of K-State’s statewide influence.

The Impact

In FY23, K-State Athletics generated $486.1 million in statewide economic impact, supported more than 3,850 jobs, and contributed $26.2 million in local tax revenue. Beyond the numbers, K-State Athletics continues to strengthen Kansas communities through civic engagement, university pride, and opportunities that unite students, fans, and residents across the state.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
