The Challenge

Lake Charles Memorial Health System serves as a cornerstone of care for Southwest Louisiana, dedicated to improving health through compassionate service, education, and disease prevention. To better understand evolving community needs across the five-parish area, the system sought a comprehensive, data-driven evaluation to inform future strategies for improving regional health outcomes.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach conducted the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) for Lake Charles Memorial Health System. The process included a blend of primary and secondary data collection, key informant surveys, stakeholder interviews, and a provider inventory highlighting organizations serving the region. Insights from local, state, and national sources were analyzed alongside input from community representatives with deep knowledge of public health and the needs of underserved populations.

The Impact

The CHNA identified four primary areas of focus for the health system: behavioral health, health behaviors, population health and chronic disease prevention, and access to care. These findings are guiding Lake Charles Memorial Health System’s implementation strategy, helping align programs, partnerships, and investments with the community’s most urgent needs.
Through this ongoing commitment, Lake Charles Memorial continues to lead efforts that improve well-being, close gaps in care, and foster a healthier, more resilient Southwest Louisiana.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
