Our Lady of the Lake Health

A Decade of Growth and Impact Through Education and Partnership

Our Lady of the Lake Health (OLOL), the largest acute care hospital in Louisiana

The Challenge

Our Lady of the Lake Health (OLOL), the largest acute care hospital in Louisiana, entered a groundbreaking Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with Louisiana State University (LSU) and the State of Louisiana to expand access to care and enrich the state’s healthcare workforce. Now in its tenth year, the partnership has positioned OLOL as a premier academic and clinical hub—hosting 27 residency and fellowship programs while advancing healthcare delivery across the region.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach was engaged to measure the medical center’s economic and community impact over the decade of its partnership with LSU. The analysis evaluated capital investment, operational and payroll expenditures, employment impacts, state and local tax generation, and the broader economic effects of employee and visitor spending.

The Impact

Tripp Umbach found that OLOL’s clinical, research, and academic programs generated $2.6 billion in annual economic impact in 2022, supporting 15,270 jobs—approximately 1 in every 150 statewide. The organization also contributed $104 million in state and local taxes. Over the past decade, OLOL’s annual impact has grown by $1.5 billion, with employment rising by nearly 5,900 positions and tax revenue increasing by $61.3 million. By 2030, projections indicate an annual impact of $3.8 billion.

Through its partnership with LSU and the State of Louisiana, OLOL continues to strengthen healthcare access, expand the provider workforce, and drive economic prosperity throughout Baton Rouge and beyond.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
