Penn Highlands Healthcare

Advancing Community Health Across Northwestern and Central Pennsylvania

Penn Highlands DuBois, a hospital that is part of the Penn Highlands Healthcare system.

The Challenge

Penn Highlands Healthcare needed a clear, data-driven understanding of the evolving health needs across its seven-county service area in Northwestern and Central Pennsylvania. As the system continued its century-long commitment to improving access, dignity, and quality of care, leadership required comprehensive insights to guide planning, strengthen partnerships, and prioritize initiatives that would meaningfully improve community health.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach partnered with Penn Highlands Healthcare to conduct a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) from winter 2020 through spring 2021. The process included extensive primary and secondary data collection, engaging more than 200 community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders from across the region. By integrating community perspectives with robust data analysis, Tripp Umbach helped identify key health challenges and opportunities for targeted interventions.

The Impact

Tripp Umbach’s CHNA findings provided a clear picture of regional health priorities and established a framework for PHH to improve outcomes and strengthen community well-being. The assessment fostered new collaborations and reinforced existing partnerships with local and regional agencies, empowering Penn Highlands Healthcare to implement initiatives that directly address identified needs and enhance quality of life for residents across Northwestern and Central Pennsylvania.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
