The Challenge
As a nationally recognized private university, Texas Christian University (TCU) continues to elevate its influence through excellence in education, research, medicine, and athletics. To better understand and communicate the full scope of its impact, TCU sought a comprehensive analysis of its economic contributions across Fort Worth, the state of Texas, and beyond.
How We Helped
In Fall 2023, TCU engaged Tripp Umbach to conduct an independent economic impact study quantifying the university’s operational and spending effects during Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23). The analysis measured TCU’s contributions to job creation, economic growth, innovation, and cultural vitality—both locally and statewide. The study also evaluated the impact of TCU Athletics, research initiatives, the Neeley School of Business, the Burnett School of Medicine, the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, community service programs, and alumni engagement.
In FY23, TCU generated a $2.1 billion total economic impact nationwide, including $1.6 billion across Texas and $1.3 billion in Fort Worth alone. Beyond these numbers, TCU’s influence extends through its commitment to community partnerships, workforce development, and programs that enrich the social and cultural fabric of the region. The findings underscore TCU’s vital role as a catalyst for economic progress and community well-being across Texas and the nation.
