The Challenge

UNMC EDGE District aims to demonstrate how a bold, 30-acre innovation hub can fully realize its potential to drive economic growth, job creation, and entrepreneurial activity for Nebraska. As the district evolves, UNMC must align partners, secure sustained investment, and translate big-picture projections into actionable steps that bring its vision for research, innovation, and community impact to life.

How We Helped

Tripp Umbach delivered a comprehensive, data-driven economic impact analysis that quantified The EDGE District’s potential benefits for Nebraska’s economy, workforce, and innovation ecosystem. The work provided UNMC and its partners with clear, actionable insights to support strategic planning, attract investment, and advance the district’s development.

The Impact

The analysis showed that the EDGE District will serve as a powerful economic engine for Nebraska, generating nearly $579 million in annual economic impact and supporting more than 4,100 jobs once fully built. It is expected to be a catalyst for 27 new startup companies, strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem and driving nearly $500 million in annual output from new ventures alone. Beyond the numbers, the district will enhance opportunities for students, researchers, and entrepreneurs, fueling discoveries, advancing new technologies, and supporting high-quality jobs that benefit communities across the state.

Every successful project starts with a conversation.
