Evaluating the Economic Impact of a New Health Professions Building

The Challenge
To support continued growth in allied health education, the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) sought a comprehensive assessment of the economic and community impact of its planned Health Professions Building. The study aimed to quantify statewide outcomes—spanning economic activity, employment, and tax revenue—while demonstrating the long-term return on investment for legislators, donors, and community stakeholders.
How We Helped
Tripp Umbach conducted a detailed economic impact analysis using the same methodology applied in previous UNMC studies to ensure consistency and comparability over time. The evaluation measured the direct, indirect, and induced effects of the College of Allied Health Professions’ current operations and modeled the projected economic outcomes following the new facility’s completion in 2026. The findings provided clear, data-backed insights into the building’s contribution to Nebraska’s workforce and economic growth.
The study offered a compelling, evidence-based case for continued investment in UNMC’s expansion. By quantifying the facility’s projected value and workforce impact, the report equips university leadership and policymakers with the data needed to guide future program development, infrastructure planning, and statewide health education initiatives.
